Welcome to my One Sheet Art Journal where I will be sharing with you a flip through of a selection of Art Journals and then showing you how to create one yourself. Check out the video above. I love these mini journals as they are so easy to create and you can create so many different themed journals to use.
These are the journals that I am going to show you how to create
I start out by using a scrap piece of A4 paper from your recycling pile - this will be covered eventually so it doesn't matter what it has on it.
I use a range of supplies - and I suggest you go into your paper stacks and see how you can use them up on the pages.
After they are created I add paint - I find water color paints to be really easy to use - you just have to be mindful of how much water is on the brush. You will then add any stickers, ephemera or words that you may have to add.
Here are a list of the supplies
Sheet of paper, - can be recycled paper from your stash
Background paper, I used ones that I had stamped images on - sign up to one of My Free courses and get a selection of art background papers to print out - https://bit.ly/coursesart
Water Colors/paints of choice (amazon have a wide variety to choose from - https://amzn.to/3zkO8PK

This was a lovely piece to work on and I got to recycle some cardboard and beading that I had in my stash. It makes for a lovely little wall hanging, I used burlap rope, you can use chain, add beading and ribbon.

At the end of the creative journey, you'll reflect on what you have created and what it means to you! This creative lesson is healing, exciting and full of beautiful discoveries.
Today is my day for sharing a prompt for you to try out or interpret however you want. The Prompt is to create a habit of seeing recycled materials and think about how you can use them in a creative way.
In my video shared on Instagram I show you a series of things I have created with materials that I have recycled. Below are a few examples - I have used sequin waste, a tea light, adhesive pads that had lost their stickiness and some furniture pads and more.
I look for things that have texture or can transfer the texture onto my work.
You can also use lids, doilies and these make great stencils
These are especially useful if you want to start creating marks unique to you in your art journal and great for when you are creating backgrounds.
In the video I show you what I use and how they look on an art journal page. I then go on to do a journal page and create 2 art cards, which you can access on my course platform for Free - HERE
On the art journal page I use the stamps that I have created, I also use the cake sleeve once it has been covered in paint as a crown.
The art cards use the stencils, decorated tissues and some of the stamps, they are fun to create and you can place them in your art journal or frame them.
If you would like to see how I created the Art Card and the Art Journal Page with the stamps and stencils you can join me for FREE on my course Platform HERE.
You will also be able to download a digital copy of the stamps and stencil images I created to use in your art journals or creative practice.

So the Messy May prompts have started and for the first Days prompt 'Starting' I decided to make a few Matchbox sized art journals. I will also be using them for some of the prompts to come. The idea for me with the challenge this month is to do something creative no matter how small, so these mini art journals are ideal. There will be some days where I do a full sized art journal spread depending on how I feel.
I am also one of the artists creating a prompt for the challenge and my day will be on Day 12 - Habit. I hope you are able to join us and come and see how you can find additional ways to be creative and enjoy the process.
The prompt for today is 'Showing Up'
The prompt for today is 'Showing Up' and I created a background page using some of the paint supplies that I have. I think one of the good things about challenges is that you can take the prompt where you feel like taking it, it is your creative journey so you enjoy it and the process.
These are colors that I don't normally combine together so it was great to be able to play in the art journal.
You can join us on the journey and take part, dip in and out if you wish and most of all enjoy. My main day is on day 12 - Habit, and I have a lovely prompt for you to do and some bonus sessions as well. You can sign up HERE
I love using recycled materials and had gone to my charity store and picked up a phone case. It was slightly too big for my phone so I thought I would make use of it and create a mini art journal.
I talk about the journal in the video below, and I have included some close up images of the pages as well.
On the front of the art journal I used some of my favorite handmade paper infused with gold, looks lovely doesn't it, one of my favorite colors which I use a lot when painting too.
One of the motivations for the journal was to use the elements that I had been holding on to for what we call 'best' or 'one day' but that day never comes. It is important to use your supplies rather than holding onto them for that one special day. Allow yourself to be included in the special day and use it on yourself.
The journal is made up of handmade paper and I have included making use of space where I can add additional elements If I were travelling with the journal - a water brush and some water colors always travel well and have minimum cleanup.
I added sentiments that are reminders 'You are beautiful - Shine your Light' reminds us that we all have something to offer and that we need to not only shine our light for ourselves, but for others who you are impacting and helping them to be brave or step out and shine their own light.
How many times have you been self conscious about what you are doing, not because you can't do it, but you are listening to the negative talk of others. Sometimes it is that throw away statement that can do the most damage - but you have to 'Dance like no one is watching' again, your being who you want to be will encourage others to keep going.
Each page has either an encouraging word or scripture, and also space for adding doodles or mark making.
Every page is a constant reminder to dream big, follow your heart and do the things that bring you closer to your goals.
Some of the sentiments I use especially when working on a challenge and I am working on two at the same time, the 100 Days of Handmade Foam and the Ultimate Blog challenge. There are some days that I have not felt like posting, and sometimes you don't, and you find a way of dealing with it and then getting back on course. I take the necessary breaks that I need, all the time reminding myself of my overall goal.
Explore, Imagine, Dream is the title of this page. I recommitted myself to share as part of the blog challenge, to not only encourage myself but others as well - I am sharing what I love, creativity and the process.
This pages sentiments - You are unique, a miracle, don't ever compare yourself with anyone else. Take a look back, you have come a long way, this is not your destination.
I hope you find the things that motivate and encourage you and that you take one step in front of the other to reach the goals you desire.
Blessings!
